  • Predicted to become another Parrot phenomenon, following the success of their popular high profile AR.Drone 2.0 quadricopter, the tiny Rolling Spider can be clipped into a lightweight two wheeled structure that allows it to run around floors, climb walls and cross ceilings for additional fun.

With just eighteen centimetres between its wheels, the Rolling Spider is clearly a much smaller mini drone than its larger counterpart, making it far more suitable for flying indoors in a reasonable size room, whilst still incorporating many of the original AR.Drone’s important features.

Available in a choice of attractive colour schemes for easy identification, several Rolling Spiders may be operated together if desired. Additionally twelve different facial design decals are included in the package, to ensure that each Parrot mini drone has a character of its own.

The Rolling Spider connects to a Smartphone or Tablet using the latest Bluetooth Low Energy Smart technology, and offers the pilot a clever combination of virtual joystick and gesture control.

Using the proportional joystick control situated on the left hand side of the screen, simply slide your thumb vertically across the screen to climb or descend, and similarly slide it horizontally to rotate left or right. Additionally, placing your thumb on the left hand side of the Smartphone screen will activate the gesture control facility and allow the Rolling Spider to proceed forwards, backwards and sideways by gently tilting the controlling device in the appropriate direction.

Further pre-programmed functions facilitate full 180 degree turns by swiping the right hand side of the screen downwards, or 90 degree turns by swiping the screen to the right. Finally to really impress your friends, double tap the screen to instruct the mini drone to perform a perfect 360 degree flip!

Easy and fun to fly even for beginners, insert a fully charged battery into the mini drone, connect the Bluetooth, and watch the LED eyes turn green.

Tap the “Take Off” button on the Smartphone screen, to see the Rolling Spider rise and hover eighty centimetres into the air. A vertical sensor buried in the bottom of the mini drone determines and holds the height, whilst another sensor detects movement to maintain its relative position.

The gyroscope and accelerometer cleverly keep the Rolling Spider astonishingly stable, simply release the controls and it will hold its hover automatically. The “Take Off” button changes to “Landing” once the mini drone is in the air, and only needs a single tap to gently lower the Rolling Spider back onto the ground. You can easily check the remaining battery charge on screen, with an audible warning activated when the capacity becomes critical.

Press on the “Photo” icon on the piloting screen, to take snapshots with the vertical camera. The photos are saved in the Rolling Spider’s memory, that contains enough space for for several hundred photos. The superb Parrot packaging includes a fully assembled Rolling Spider quadricopter supplied ready to fly, complete with a clip on carbon fibre axle and a pair of ultra lightweight seventeen centimetre diameter wheels, an integral USB charger, a Sticker Sheet with twelve different facial designs.plus an informative multilingual flight manual.

Remarkably robust made of impact resistant plastic, the Rolling Spider weighs just 68g with its wheels, incorporates a removable lightweight 500mAh lithium polymer battery and will fly for up to eight minutes, whilst recharging via a micro USB port in less than an hour.

Download the appropriate AR.FreeFlight 3.0 App from the App Store for iOS products, Google Play for Android devices, or from Windows for Nokia.

The Rolling Spider requires a suitable Smartphone or Tablet for operation (not included). See the Parrot website for current compatibility and for links to the latest Apps.
